Cube look

Fireman with thermal imaging camera

The cube view is a view technique, the fire brigade , in particular the attack team under respirator (Druckluftatmer) , applies to a space with a thermal imaging camera to search effectively. The view is directed up, down, right, front, left and back; The six sides of an imaginary “cube” are viewed from its center.

This view of the cube is intended to ensure that no one is overlooked in the possibly very smoke-filled buildings.

The following has proven itself as a viewing sequence:

  1. Ceiling,
  2. Ground,
  3. Wall right,
  4. Opposite wall,
  5. Wall left,
  6. Wall through which the room was entered.

Looking forwards and upwards ensures that there are no dangers for the team ahead, such as hanging power cables, hot fire gases (these can be easily recognized with a thermal imaging camera) or the like.

Looking to the left and right is used to control escape routes , windows, doors or the like.

Looking down serves to make obstacles, abysses, people lying, etc. visible.

The final view is the rear, with it your own escape route is secured.
