Württemberg. Swabian monthly books in the service of the people and homeland

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Württemberg. Swabian monthly journals in the service of people and homeland is the name of the tenth year of a folk and local history magazine that was published in 1938 as a continuation of Württemberg. Monthly magazine in the service of people and homeland , Vol. 1 (1929) to Vol. 9 (1937), published by Verlag W. Kohlhammer, Stuttgart . Not only was the year and volume count of the predecessor continued, but also - with 109 for the January issue - the counting of the individual monthly issues.

In terms of content, in addition to philosophically harmless contributions, references to the blood-and-soil ideology are repeatedly visible. The involvement in the Nazi cultural scene is illustrated by the "tribute" that the editor and editor August Lämmle dedicated to the Reich Governor and NSDAP Gauleiter Wilhelm Murr , "the son and leader of the Swabian people", on his 50th birthday in December 1938. Even clearer is the adulation with which the end of Adolf Hitler's speech in the Reichstag of February 20, 1938, printed on the cover of issue 111 (March 1938) is commented: “Political words of such high spirit and in such noble language have been spoken in Germany since Arndts and Fichtes days . ”The fact that both articles are illustrated with portrait photos of the rulers also speaks for itself.

After only 12 monthly issues there was another change. Firstly August Laemmle was the beginning from 1939 editorship and the editorial board, on the other hand, the magazine now appeared under the name of Swabia. Monthly booklets for folklore and culture . The year or volume count was continued with 11 , but a new issue count started with 1 .
