The Württemberger shaft hydrant is an underground hydrant which is lower than the "normal" hydrant. In contrast to the hydrants otherwise used in Germany, a longer standpipe and an optional standpipe holder are required, and the hydrant has a DN 50 claw (otherwise DN 80).

These hydrants are only found in some areas of Baden-Württemberg , primarily in Württemberg .

Standpipes in "normal" design with a stand pipe foot DN 80 cannot be used on these hydrants. For this reason, Württemberg fire engines are equipped with two standpipes of different lengths to ensure the fire water supply.
