Württemberg painters' association

The Württembergischer Malerinnenverein was an association to promote female painters . It was open to women over the age of 18 who practiced the fine arts or handicrafts professionally and had set up their own loan and support fund in the manner of a professional association. He also made studios available to the artists on Eugenstrasse in Stuttgart, organized exhibitions and staged social activities. In doing so, he tried to overcome reservations about female painters at the time and gain social recognition for them.

The association was founded on February 25, 1893 in Stuttgart . On July 28, 1933, the association was dissolved by the National Socialists. The Association of Female Artists of Württemberg was founded as the successor institution in 1945 .
