Bremersdorf desert
The Bremersdorf desert is a settlement near Bad Kissingen in the Aschach-Auraer Forest, first mentioned in 1122 but already abandoned in 1394 .
location
The Bremersdorf desert is located on Bavarian State Road 2792 between Bad Kissingen and Poppenroth in the Kaskadental not far from the Klaushof wildlife park on the Ilgenwiese.
history
The place Bremersdorf was first mentioned in 1122 in the founding deed of the Aura monastery , because it belonged to its property. Archaeological studies have shown that the place had around five farmsteads and its own church. The ownership of this church consecrated to St. Eligius distinguishes the Bremersdorf desert from all others in the Achach-Auraer Forest.
According to a legend, the settlement was destroyed because the residents were accused of theft and allegedly damaged the fields and meadows of the Kissing people. Since the remains of the settlement show traces of fire that indicate violent destruction, this legend is assumed to be very true. The place was no longer mentioned in the Aura Central Order of 1394, as it was probably already deserted.
