Kleinrothenstein desert

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kleinrothenstein desert was located west of the Rothenstein community in the south of the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia .

location

Kleinrothenstein, also called Steinchen or Rothensteinchen , was located to the west on the Saalestei slopes west of Rothenstein to the south towards Altendorf on the lying high plateau of the Kuhberg. Today it is still remote from the groundwater and at that time a remote location without a trickle .

Reasons for becoming desolate

Reasons when and how the village became desolate have not been clarified. Assumptions that the village fell desolately in the civil war (1146–1451) are denied in the literature. We know that the inhabitants have moved to the neighboring villages of the valleys.

Discussion from today's perspective

  • Lack of water in a very drought-prone site
  • at the time the seclusion
  • military tribulations
