WAD (file format)

WAD ( Where's All the Data ) is a file format . It was used in the 90s to describe the level of the first first-person shooter based on the Doom or Quake engine . Well-known games that use WAD are Doom, Call of Duty , Grand Prix 4 , Half-Life , Quake, and Tomb Raider .

The "WAD" file format is still used today for the " 3D GameStudio " as a texture file format .

On the Nintendo Wii console, the WAD format is used to create and install so-called custom channels. These represent Wii Channels with homebrew.
