WAN analysis

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term WAN analysis refers to the examination of the data traffic , which in " Wide Area Networks " (WANs) between participating computers ( computers ) sent to different locations or is received.

WAN analysis as a term encompasses all processes for examining the data that is sent or received via the media of a global data network. This is less about spying on private data than about technical monitoring or the diagnosis of technical errors that (t) impair the availability and / or security of the data and services. Due to the considerable effort and the considerable need for specialist knowledge, WAN analysis is only carried out reactively (in the event of damage) and rarely only proactively (for prevention).
