WASP-8 is a star in the Sculptor constellation . Based on its (B − V) color of +0.7, it can be classified as a late G star.
It is accompanied by the transit planet WASP-8 b with a little more than 2 Jupiter masses in an eccentric orbit with high inclination and an orbital period of 8.15 days, which moves retrograde to the rotation of WASP-8. The companion was discovered through observations made in 2006 and 2007 as part of the SuperWASP project at the South African Astronomical Observatory.
