WAVE - World Advanced Vehicle Expedition is an everyday test for electric vehicles that has been taking place annually since 2002.

In the 2011 edition, 20 teams from Germany, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Austria, England, India, the United States and the United Arab Emirates started from Paris to Prague. The entourage was accompanied by the Elektro T5é from the Fraunhofer Institute . The Twike and the SMILE of the Oekozentrum Langenbruck achieved excellent scores .

The route in 2012 led from Genoa to Amsterdam. Night stops were made in: Turin, Mendrisio, Buchs, Steinhausen, Sustenpass, Bern, Gelterkinden, Basel, Strasbourg, Oberursel, Paderborn, Osnabrück and Harlingen. Additional daily destinations for events were approached every day. A team of students from ETH took part with an electric lotus.
