The WIKUS saw factory Wilhelm H. Kullmann GmbH & Co. KG is an international manufacturer of sawing tools (saw bands and circular saw blades) for industry and trade. The medium-sized family company is based in Spangenberg in the northeast of Hesse .

history

The company was founded on October 1st, 1958 under the name "WIKU" in a Spangenberg horse stable by Wilhelm Hubert Kullmann († 2019). Production initially consisted of tool steel bandsaw blades. For reasons of space, the saw factory moved to its current location in Melsunger Strasse in Spangenberg in northern Hesse in 1960. Since it was founded, the production facilities have been continuously expanded to include additional production halls.

In 1962 the company was renamed "WIKUS" to avoid confusion. In 1970 WIKUS began to establish itself in an international context through its subsidiary WIKUS IBERICA SA in Barcelona. Contact to South America and Japan followed in the same year, further subsidiaries and partner companies were founded in the course of the last decades, WIKUS is currently represented in around 70 countries worldwide. In 1994 WIKUS received a certificate for the quality assurance system according to DIN EN ISO 9001 for the first time. In 2018 WIKUS celebrated its 60th anniversary and had around 750 employees worldwide.

Products

WIKUS produces high-tech sawing tools for various industries, including a. steel production and trading, mechanical engineering, the automotive industry, aerospace, construction, foundries and tool making. All products are developed in the company's own research and development department and produced exclusively at the Spangenberg location:

  • Bimetal band saw blades: They consist of a carrier band made of alloyed heat-treated steel and are suitable for a wide range of applications from standard to special applications.
  • Carbide-tipped saw bands: They are provided with carbide bodies on the tooth tip, which can show ground and / or set tooth geometries. They have significantly higher cutting performance than bimetal saw bands.
  • Sprinkled saw bands:
    • Diamond-strewn saw bands: As the hardest material, diamond is able to cut almost all materials and alloys. Diamond-strewn saw bands are also suitable for loads at extremely high cutting speeds.
    • CBN-sprinkled saw bands: Cubic boron nitride is the second hardest known material, whose properties include high hardness and strength as well as thermal and chemical resistance.
    • Carbide-coated saw bands: Carbide-coated saw bands are particularly suitable for machining wire-reinforced tires, composite materials, case-hardened steels, fiberglass and graphite.
  • Tool steel band saw blades: They are particularly suitable for simple workshop operations through to the machining of composite materials.
  • Circular saw blades: The carbide-tipped circular saw blades are particularly suitable for cutting thin-walled profiles and pipes.
