WNUC-LP is a community radio station based in Detroit , Michigan . It went on air in the fall of 2016.

WNUC broadcasts for Detroit on VHF 96.7 MHz. WNUC is licensed to the North End / Woodward Community Coalition (NEWCC), an ecclesiastical association of citizens and business people. According to its own information, WNUC can potentially reach 300,000 Detroit residents from the North End to the southwest of the city, as well as Hamtramck and Highland Park, via its VHF transmitter .

WNUC is a member of the National Federation of Community Broadcasters and the Pacifica Network . As an affiliate of the Pacifica Network , it is one of over 200 other public radio stations on this free radio network.

history

WNUC is the first community radio station in Detroit, according to Pacifica Radio. Station Manager Reverend Joan Ross participated in the 2013 Grassroots Radio Conference and learned about the possibility of small channels for communities.

WNUC sees itself at the service of the disadvantaged and underrepresented population groups in the city, who have few opportunities for Internet access.
