WS interoperability

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

WS-Interoperability ( WS-I , full name WS-Interoperability Organization) was a group of industry partners for the unification of web service standards. The goal was to achieve web service interoperability between different platforms. The WS-I created so-called profiles for existing specifications. In addition to the profiles, WS-I provides reference implementations and test programs. Even if the WS-I had a WS in its name, its documents were never part of the great WS- * standard . The WS-I consortium disbanded in 2010 and transferred the further development of the documents to the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS).

Profiles

A large number of web service specifications have developed from different interests and specific tasks (see WS- * ). So everyone only uses a part of the specifications, which can also be interpreted in any way you like. "Profiles" now insert boundary conditions that enable the interoperable use of the web service specifications. The basic structure of the profiles is always the same, and it only restricts existing specifications and never softens conditions, so that backward compatibility is always guaranteed.
