Krumbach wax museum

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Krumbach Wax Museum is a private museum for wax sculpture and the wax drawing trade in Krumbach (Swabia) . The focus of the exhibits is the family history of the Sallinger family, which has been associated with the gingerbread and wax making trade since the Thirty Years War, but only came to Krumbach later.

In addition, wax art works from almost 400 years of craftsmanship are exhibited. You can see wax pictures, votive candles and other wax devotional items such as a wrapped baby Jesus . The candles on display include ornate wax sticks, which became fashionable from the 18th century, or decorative or mantle candles, which were set up as room decorations in the second half of the 20th century. In addition, there are thematic exhibition areas that deal, for example, with candles and wax pictures in the Christian life and year, the candle in proverbs or the historical dress customs explained on the basis of the wax objects and historical portraits.

The museum is operated by the Krumbach-based company Morsa Wachswarenfabrik Sallinger .
