Wax taffeta

As Wachstaft or Gesundheitstaft refers to a canvas or taffeta coated with a wax varnish, obtained by cooking of 6 parts of linseed oil with 1 1/2 parts of litharge , 3.1 part red lead , 1/4 part of rosin , 1/8 part of turpentine and a Dye is being prepared.

The wax taffeta is used for wrapping rheumatic or gouty parts of the body, for raincoats, hat covers, clothes inserts, etc.
