Wafer embossing
As a waffle embossing generally means a widely introduced deformation. This embossing is mainly made by machine.
Technical language of the professions:
- For sheet metal : permanent, cold straightening to improve flatness and rigidity
- With paper : Increase in the volume factor (absorbency with wiping paper)
With wafer embossing, indentations are often embossed into the material. Because of the optics, one speaks of a wafer embossing. The result can also achieve good visual effects, but the process is primarily used with a technical background. The classic waffle embossing for straightening technical sheet metal parts looks like the sheet has been placed in a press between 2 nail boards. And indeed, many small tips in a press with several tons of clamping force cause this effect.
