Closing force

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In mechanical engineering, the closing force denotes the sum of all forces in presses that put the columns (bars) under tension after the closing process has been completed. The closing force is then also the force that presses the mold halves together. In injection molding machines , the clamping force is an important parameter in the international size specification. It indicates: 1. with the first number the maximum clamping force in k N and 2. with the second number the working capacity of the injection unit . For example, an injection molding machine of the international size 500-210 has a maximum clamping force of 500 kN.
