Wakoopa is a software company that creates passive tracking solutions for market research . Wakoopa was founded in 2007 and is based in Amsterdam , Holland.

Tracking software

Wakoopa develops passive measurement software that makes it possible to observe the real online behavior of users. This software is implemented in panels , whereby the participants expressly consent to participate in market research. The data itself is collected and evaluated completely anonymously. However, it is possible to collect other data about users if they voluntarily provide them (e.g. age, make of car, ...) and to combine this with the passive data.

Wakoopa offers the software as a white label solution for market research companies that operate panels. Wakoopa also works with panel providers in various markets to provide a continuous source of data on the online behavior of Internet users.

History / Wakoopa Social

Robert Gaal and Wouter Broekhof, 2008

Wakoopa started in 2006 as a social network that attracted around 200,000 registered users - the so-called "Wakoopians". The platform offered participants the opportunity to measure and evaluate their own use of apps. This information could be shared with other users in order to discover new applications within the social network. By using apps and writing reviews, users have been able to reach certain levels ( greenhorn, novice, enthusiast, admirer, expert, fanatic, and overlord ). These states each had their own symbol, developed by the Dutch cartoonist Nozzman. In 2010, Wakoopa started implementing the software to use it as a tracking product for market research and innovate in online research. This strategy proved successful and the social network closed in 2012.

Wakoopa and Netquest

In 2014, Wakoopa teamed up with Netquest, online field research provider for Spain, Portugal and Latin America. After joint projects, both companies came to the conclusion that they share a common goal: to make the technology a fully fledged part of the panelist experience. A close collaboration with Netquest opened up the possibility of integrating all aspects of online research. Wakoopa remains an independent unit in close cooperation with Netquest.

Wakoopa and GfK

In 2016, GfK acquired Netquest and with it its subsidiary Wakoopa.
