Forest aesthetics

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Forest aesthetics is the subject of sensitive perception of the forest - or more simply: forest aesthetics is about forest life. "Forest landscape maintenance " also deals with this topic . To differentiate: Forest landscape maintenance focuses more on the design of the forest, while forest aesthetics tend to consider people and their experience. Both overlap when it comes to the "aesthetic added value" in the forest. This aims at a certain harmony of the forest landscape. A harmony of experience that human influence - forestry - definitely affirms, but on the other hand also includes the originality of the wilderness . It is not about making the forest “just beautiful”, but about allowing it to be rich in variety and uniqueness. As a space that is relatively little influenced by humans, the forest is of inestimable value for the human experience of nature. What has not been made, but what has become and grown through one's own strength, can be experienced there like nowhere else in our landscape; on the other hand, the process of down-to-earth human appropriation of nature.

Formerly that was forest aesthetics a common term that emerged in the 19th century and 1885 by Heinrich von Salisch was defined as "The doctrine of the beauty of the forest industry." His book "Forstästhetik" appeared in three editions, the last one in 1911.
