Walk cycle
In animations, a walk cycle is a sequence of individual images in which a walking movement is reproduced in such a way that the end of the sequence coincides with the beginning. This gives the impression of a continuous sequence of movements. The term walk cycle is also used for other movement sequences in which this effect is to be achieved.
As a rule, four key images are sufficient for the representation of a walk cycle : the starting point, the first movement phase , the turning point and the second movement phase . In cartoons , the transitions between the key frames are realized by making additional panels , in computer animations the transitions are created with motion interpolation .
