Wall guard houses in the Dessau-Wörlitz garden realm

"The useful with the beautiful" was the motto of Prince Franz von Anhalt-Dessau . The landscaping that was created under his government together with his friend Friedrich Wilhelm von Erdmannsdorff included not only palaces, parks and gardens, but also flood protection on the Elbe and Mulde. The wall guard houses built between 1770 and 1800 were also included in the landscaping. Today they are the gems on the cycling and hiking trails of the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Kingdom, which is part of the world cultural heritage .
