Walter Kempowski Literature Prize

The Walter Kempowski Literature Prize is a sponsorship award for German-language short stories from the Hamburg Authors' Association . Such a prize was first awarded in 2005, but has only borne the name of Walter Kempowski, who died in the same year, since 2007 .

The sponsorship prize is awarded every second year in cooperation with the Hannelore and Helmut Greve Foundation for Culture and Science , alternating with the Hannelore Greve Literature Prize . The authors' association has 120 writers, including Siegfried Lenz , Günter Kunert and Arno Surminski . Walter Kempowski was an honorary member for life. The award is given to three authors. The contributions are selected at a general meeting of the Hamburg Writers' Association. In 2005 it was endowed with 5000 euros, in 2007 with a total of 10,000 euros.
