Walter Hohlefelder

Walter Heinz Hohlefelder (born September 8, 1945 in Bad Godesberg ) is a German manager and former president of the lobby organization Deutsches Atomforum .

From 1965 to 1969, Hohlefelder studied law and administration at the Universities of Bonn and Lausanne and at the Speyer School of Administration . After traineeship, doctorate in administrative sciences in Speyer and the second state examination in law, Hohlefelder worked in the Interior Ministry of North Rhine-Westphalia from 1975 to 1980, and in 1980 he moved to the Federal Ministry of the Interior .

From 1985 to 1986 Hohlefelder worked as managing director of the Society for Reactor Safety in Cologne, before he was Head of Department in the Federal Environment Ministry in the field of reactor safety, radiation protection and nuclear waste disposal from 1986 to 1994 .

In 1994 Hohlefelder switched to industry, initially until 1999 as "General Representative in Economic Policy" for the energy company VEBA AG in Düsseldorf. In April 1999 he was appointed to the board of directors of PreussenElektra AG, where he was responsible for the law and nuclear energy divisions. In October 1999 he became a member of the management board of E.ON Kernkraft GmbH , which he chaired from September 2000 to October 2001. After PreussenElektra and VEBA were absorbed into the newly founded E.ON Group , Hohlefelder became a member of the E.ON Energie Executive Board in July 2000 and remained so until his retirement in March 2008.

From April 2004 to 2010 Hohlefelder was president of the lobby organization Deutsches Atomforum .
