At the beginning of October 2015, the town council of Barsinghausen proposed that the Niedermühlenteich development area to the west of Erfurter Strasse, which was planned at the time, be named as Bürgermeister-Theil-Weg in memory of the Social Democrats. A dead end street to the west of Erfurter Straße is now called Walter-Theil-Straße .
