Walter Tomsen (born March 4, 1912 in Kiev , Russian Empire , † December 30, 2000 in Southbury ) was an American sports shooter .
successes
Walter Tomsen took part in the 1948 Olympic Games in London in competition with the small bore rifle in the prone position over 50 m. In six rounds of ten rounds each he failed to score the full 100 points in the third round. Like Arthur Cook , he achieved the best result with a total of 599 points , but in contrast to Cook, who had 43 straight hits in the middle of the target, he only hit the middle 42 times. Tomsen received the silver medal behind Cook and ahead of Jonas Jonsson .
