Arthur Edwin "Art" Cook (born March 19, 1928 in Washington, DC ) is a former American sports shooter .
successes
Arthur Cook took part in the 1948 Olympic Games in London in competition with the small bore rifle in the prone position over 50 m. In six rounds of ten rounds, he only failed to achieve the full 100 points in the last round. With a total of 599 points, like Walter Tomsen , he achieved the best result, but in contrast to Tomsen, who had 42 straight hits in the middle of the target, he hit the middle 43 times exactly. Cook received the gold medal ahead of Tomsen and Jonas Jonsson .
The following year he was in Buenos Aires in the prone position champion m and won silver in three positions, as well as in the team competition in the prone position about 50 to 100. In the latter, he won the title with the team in Oslo in 1952 and in Caracas in 1954 . In 1952 he also won bronze individually and with the team in the lying position. At the Pan American Games in Buenos Aires in 1951 , he won silver with the small bore in a three-position battle.
