Henri Junghänel (born February 5, 1988 in Leipzig ) is a German marksman specializing in the air rifle and small bore rifle . In 2016 he became Olympic champion in small caliber prone shooting in Rio de Janeiro. In 2013 he was World Shooter of the Year.

Junghänel starts for SV Rai-Breitenbach . At the Junior World Championships in 2008 he took second place with the air rifle, in the small-bore three-position fight he was fourth. At the 2010 World Championships he competed with the team in the small-bore prone competition and took eighth place. In 2011 he was fifth in the prone competition at the European Championships in Belgrade, with the team he received the silver medal. Two years later he won the silver medal in the individual competition and took sixth place with the lying team. In 2013 he won the prone competition at the World Cup final, and in 2014 he came third. Henri Junghänel achieved his greatest success at the European Games in 2015 when he won the prone competition.

In addition to the 2013 World Cup final, Junghänel won five World Cup competitions, two in the three-position fight and three in the prone position. Among other things, he won the prone competition at the World Cup 2016 in Rio de Janeiro on the facility on which the competitions at the 2016 Olympic Games are held. There, Junghänel won the gold medal in the prone competition with the small-bore sport rifle.

On November 1, 2016, Junghänel was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf - the highest sporting award in Germany - by Federal President Joachim Gauck . He has been with Porsche in Stuttgart since 2017 .
