Lee Eun-chul ( . Kor 이은철 ; * 3. January 1967 ) is a former South Korean marksman .

successes

Lee Eun-chul took part in the Olympic Games five times . In 1984 he made his debut in Los Angeles with the small-bore rifle in the three-position battle not beyond 39th place. Four years later he improved to 28th place in Seoul and also competed with the air rifle, which he finished in twelfth place. At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona , he finished eleventh in a three-position battle with the small caliber, while in the prone position he made it into the final with 597 points as eighth of the qualification. In this he scored 105.5 points, the best result of all eight finalists shooter and was a total of 702.5 points, a new Olympic record, before Harald stenvaag and Stevan Pletikosic Olympic champion . In 1996 he took eleventh place with the air rifle in Atlanta , and with the small caliber he finished in 18th place in the three-position fight. In the prone position he qualified again with 596 points for the final, which he finished in seventh place with 699.1 points overall. When he last participated in the Olympics in Sydney in 2000 , he finished the competitions with the air rifle and with the small-bore rifle in the three-position fight in 18th place. In the prone position he clearly missed the final this time, he only finished 41st place.

1990 in Moscow was Lee Eun-chul with the small caliber both in three positions and in the standing position World Champion . At the continental level, he was also in 1987 in Beijing in the three-position fight with the small bore and also with the air rifle in the individual Asian champion. At the Asian Games in 1986 in Seoul he won the silver medal with the air rifle in the individual and team competition and with the standard rifle in the team competition of the three-position fight. With the small bore rifle, he and the team won the gold medal in the three-position battle. In 1990 he secured the gold medal with the small caliber in the three-position fight in both the individual and team competition, while he won the silver medal with the team in the prone position. In 1994 he also took first place in the individual and team competition in Hiroshima in the three-position battle with the small caliber. In the standing position with the small caliber, he won the individual silver medal. He received his last medal in Bangkok in 1998 when he reached second place in the three-position battle in the team competition.

After the Olympic Games in 2000 he ended his career. Lee studied computer science at Texas Lutheran University and graduated in 1997. He first worked in the United States in Silicon Valley before he returned to South Korea and founded two companies in the IT industry there.
