Jonas Edman

Jonas Inge Rikard Edman (born March 4, 1967 in Linköping ) is a former Swedish sports shooter . In 2000 he was Olympic champion in prone shooting with the small-bore rifle.

Career

Jonas Edman started shooting sports in 1985. In 1995 he took 15th place in prone shooting at 300 meters at the European Championships in Boden . At the 1998 World Championships in Barcelona he finished 16th at 300 meters, and ninth in prone shooting at 50 meters. With the team he won the title in the lying position. In 1999 he took 14th place at the European Championships at 300 meters, and seventh in the 50-meter prone shooting. At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, he finished 20th in the three-position fight over 50 meters. In prone shooting he scored 599 points in the qualification and 102.3 points in the final with his Keppeler small-bore free rifle , thus winning the gold medal in front of the Dane Torben Grimmel .

In 2001 he received bronze in prone shooting at the European Championships in Zagreb. In the same year he won the World Cup final in Munich. In 2002 he won the World Cup in Atlanta. In 2003 in Pilsen, like two years earlier, he won bronze at the European Championships. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Edman competed in prone shooting again, but only finished 32nd.
