Károly Varga (born September 28, 1955 in Budapest ) is a former Hungarian sports shooter .

Károly Varga took part in the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow with a small-bore rifle in the prone position at 50 m. With the world record of 599 points, he was tied with Hellfried Heilfort , so that the results of the individual rounds decided who won the gold medal. Both Varga and Heilfort scored 100 points in the sixth and final round. Varga also managed to do this in the fifth round, while Heilfort only got 99 points. Because of this, Varga became an Olympic champion .
