Walterskirchen (noble family)
Walterskirchen was an Austrian noble family .
history
The family had lived in Wolfsthal since the 16th century , after Otto Wilhelm zu Walterskirchen and Hundsheim acquired the "Veste Wolfsthal" and the Pottenburg as his own in 1544. Both are still owned by the family today.
In 1643 the family was raised from the hereditary-Austrian knightly aristocracy to the status of baron , on April 9, 1907 to the status of Austrian count. As one of 64 counts, it had a hereditary seat in the manor house , the upper house of the Austrian Imperial Council .
