Wall fountain Konviktstrasse (Freiburg im Breisgau)
The wall fountain in Konviktstrasse is a limestone fountain built in 1863 and newly erected in 1984, which stands on a stone plinth above the Freiburg Bächle .
history
In 1863 (this year can also be seen on the trough) the fountain was built at this point, after which the predecessor was damaged.
The predecessor fountain, which was named after an old Gewannes in the street “Hintere Wolfshöhle” (since 1854 the street was called Konviktstraße), was connected to the new water pipeline to Neuburg-Vorstadt after the Thirty Years War . After the renovation of Konviktstrasse, the fountain was restored and put up again.
execution
The corners of the simple, rectangular fountain trough are bevelled, and the base and upper edge have a bulge. The square fountain stick is leaning against the wall and has a tube. Donors who supported the restoration are mentioned on a plaque.
