Cheek spreader

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A cheek spreader is an instrument used to hold the cheeks apart . It is mainly used in veterinary medicine for examining and treating the oral cavity and teeth in small pets , usually with the use of a mouth spreader at the same time .

Cheek spreaders consist of two widened jaws that are shaped differently and serve to protect the oral mucosa . They are connected by two arms, at the end of which a spring mechanism ensures that the corners of the mouth spread independently.
