Wanjuk (pronounced Wandschuk , also written Wanyjok or Winejok ) is a town in South Sudan . It has been the capital of the newly founded state of Aweil East since 2015 . Until 2015 it was in the state of Northern Bahr el Ghazal (North Bahr al-Ghazal).

Infrastructure

The organization Christian Solidarity International (CSI) - whose work in Sudan is not without controversy, especially with regard to the free purchase programs for slaves - runs a small hospital in Wanjuk, which has its own well, a modern communication system and a solar-powered refrigerator for medicines and is in the region which largely offers medical care. According to the CSI, 7,874 people were treated here in 2005.
