Wanlaweyne

Wanlaweyne (also written Wanlaweyn or Uanle Uen ) is a city in southern Somalia, in the Shabeellaha Hoose region . It has about 23,000 inhabitants.

Since June 2006, Wanlaweyne and the surrounding area have been under the control of the Union of Islamic Courts ; apart from an incident in which in the context of a conflict between the August 23 Hawiye - Subclans the Gaaljecel and Habre Gedir five people were killed, it has since remained relatively quiet.
