Wannenmacher Museum

The tub-making museum in Emsdetten ( North Rhine-Westphalia ) shows the history of the old tub-making craft , which determined the economic life of the place for centuries. Some of the furnished rooms show the use of the house and illustrate the way of life and work of its residents. The exhibition area, which is divided into themes, provides background information on the structure.

history

The house of the current museum was built in 1875 by the tub maker Hermann Löbbel at Wilhelmstrasse 17. In 1927 the adjoining building, the so-called Spleithüesken, was added. In 1982 the building was acquired and demolished by the city of Emsdetten. On May 14, 1985, it was opened as the Wannenmacher Museum at its current location on Mühlenstrasse.
