history

The place Wanshowen was first mentioned in a document in 1239 and 1245. Finds from the Merovingian era bear witness to earlier settlement activities. In the first written sources, the place Boxberg was initially called Wanshofen. It is therefore a forerunner settlement, which probably opened up in the 14th century in what is now the core town of Boxberg. After the residential area in the town of Boxberg has risen, it shares its history.
