from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The War Memorial Band Rotunda is a monument in the New Zealand city of Dargaville . The music pavilion on the coast was built in 1928 in memory of the citizens who died in World War I. It was inaugurated on May 17, 1928 by then Prime Minister Joseph Gordon Coates .

A committee founded in 1919 dealt with the erection of a war memorial. Among several suggestions was a bandstand. To build it, 18 acres of land were purchased on which the Northern Wairoa Memorial Park was built. The pavilion itself was £ 300.
