Heat resistance

Heat resistance is the strength of a material at elevated temperatures. Materials with special heat resistance are used in the field of ceramic materials, the foundry industry or in iron and steel production or processing, but also in the aviation and petrochemical industries. Common alloying elements for increasing the heat resistance of iron are cobalt (Co), molybdenum (Mo) and vanadium (V). Alloys that are structurally resilient at 90% of the melting temperature (high temperature resistant) are called superalloys .
