Wartke's Tewekeljan

Wartkes Tewekeljan (* 1902 , † 1969 ) was a Soviet - Armenian writer.

Life

Tewekeljan was born the son of a ship heater . He worked as a shepherd, porter, baker and setter. At the age of 28 he graduated from the workers and farmers faculty . This was followed by studies at the Institute of the Peoples of the East in Moscow . He then worked in southern Russia and in the Caucasus for state organs of the Soviet Union and agencies of the CPSU . In the early 1930s he worked for the Soviet embassy in Iran . From 1937 to 1952 he ran a large Moscow textile factory.

In 1950, Tevekeljan published his first book at the age of 48. More novels followed. He signed his sixth book A Life in Danger with memories of a chekist . Here he processed his impressions from his work in the Caucasus.

He was buried in the Armenian Cemetery in Moscow.
