Washington National Forest
The Washington National Forest was designated on February 22, 1897 by the General Land Office as Washington Forest Reserve in the US state of Washington with 3,594,240 acres (14,545 km²) area. After the federal forest was handed over to the United States Forest Service in 1905, it was given the status of a National Forest on March 4, 1907 . On July 1, 1908, the Chelan National Forest was established with part of the Washington National Forest. On January 21, 1924, Washington was renamed Mount Baker National Forest . The areas now exist as Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest .
