The Chelan National Forest is a former National Forest ; it was established by the US Forest Service on July 1, 1908, by separating a 10,087 km² area from the Washington National Forest . On July 1, 1921, the first Okanogan National Forest was integrated into the area, but the name was changed back to Okanogan National Forest on March 23, 1955 .
