Okanogan County is a county in the state of Washington in the United States . It has 30,564 inhabitants. The county seat is in Okanogan .

According to the 2000 census , the county had 39,564 people. There were 15,027 households and 10,579 families. The population density was 3 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 75.32% White, 0.28% African American, 11.47% Native American, 0.44% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, and 9.58% other races Groups; 2.84% were from two or more races. 14.38% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 15,027 households, 33.20% had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 54.40% were married couples living together, 11.00% were single mothers. 29.60% were not families. 24.50% were single households and 9.70% had someone living there who was 65 years of age or over. The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 3.04.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 27.70% residents under 18 years of age, 7.30% between 18 and 24 years of age, 25.50% between 25 and 44 years of age, 25.50% between 45 and 64 years of age 14.00% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 99.20 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 98.00 males.
The median income for a household in the 29,726 USD , and the median income for a family was 35,012 USD. Males had a median income of $ 29,495 versus $ 22,005 for females. The per capita income was $ 14,900. 21.30% of the population and 16.00% of families are below the poverty line. 28.20% of these were under 18 years of age and 10.40% were 65 years of age or older.
