The Spokane County is a county in the State of Washington of the United States . It has 473,761 inhabitants. The county seat is in Spokane , the second largest city is Spokane Valley .

According to the 2000 census , the county had 417,939 people. There were 163,611 households and 106,019 families. The population density was 92 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 91.39% white, 1.59% African American , 1.40% American Indian , 1.88% Asian American , 0.16% Pacific islander and 0.82% from other races ; 2.76% were from two or more races. 2.77% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 163,611 households, 32.40% had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 49.90% were married couples living together, 11.00% were single mothers. 35.20% were not families. 28.10% were single households and 9.60% had someone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 3.02.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 25.70% residents under 18 years of age, 10.60% between 18 and 24 years of age, 28.90% between 25 and 44 years of age, 22.40% between 45 and 64 years of age 12.40% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 96.40 males, for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 93.60 males.
The median income for a household in the 37,308 USD , and the median income for a family was 46,463 USD. Males had a median income of $ 35,097 versus $ 25,526 for females. The per capita income was $ 19,233. 12.30% of the population and 8.30% of families are below the poverty line. 14.20% of these were under 18 years of age and 8.10% were 65 years of age or older.
