Ferry County is a county in the state of Washington in the United States with a population of 7,260. The county seat is in Republic .

history
Ferry County was formed on February 21, 1899 from parts of Stevens County . It was named after Elisha P. Ferry , the first governor of Washington state.

The county had 7,260 people as of the 2000 census . There were 2,823 households and 1,987 families. The population density was 1 person per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 75.48% White, 0.21% African American, 18.28% Native American, 0.29% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, and 2.23% other races Groups; 3.46% were from two or more races. 2.82% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 2,823 households, 30.10% had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 54.70% were married couples living together, 10.20% were single mothers. 29.60% were not families. 24.80% are single households and 9.10% have someone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 2.95.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 26.90% residents under 18 years of age, 7.60% between 18 and 24 years of age, 23.40% between 25 and 44 years of age, 29.50% between 45 and 64 years of age 12.60% were 65 years of age or over. The average age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 107.70 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 105.20 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 30,388 , and the median income for a family is $ 35,691. Males had a median income of $ 32,103 versus $ 23,371 for females. The per capita income was $ 15,019. 19.00% of the population and 13.30% of families are below the poverty line. 20.40% of these were under 18 years of age and 10.30% were 65 years of age or older.
