Grant County is a county in the US state of Washington . It has 74,698 inhabitants. The county seat is in Ephrata .

history
Grant County was formed on February 24, 1909 from parts of Douglas County . It was named after Ulysses S. Grant , Commander in Chief of the Union Armies in the American Civil War and 18th President of the United States .

According to the 2000 census , the county had 74,698 people. There were 25,204 households and 18,676 families. The population density was 11 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 76.54% White, 0.99% African American, 1.16% Native American, 0.87% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, and 17.36% other races Groups; 3.01% were from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 30.09% of the population.
Of the 25,204 households, 39.90% had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 59.30% were married couples living together, 9.80% were single mothers. 25.90% were not families. 21.20% were single households and 8.90% had someone living there who was 65 years of age or over. The average household size was 2.92 and the average family size was 3.38 people.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 32.00% residents under 18 years of age, 9.80% between 18 and 24 years of age, 27.00% between 25 and 44 years of age, 19.70% between 45 and 64 years of age 11.50% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females there were 104.50 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 103.40 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 35,276 , and the median income for a family is $ 38,938. Males had a median income of $ 32,414 versus $ 24,310 for females. The per capita income was $ 15,037. 17.40% of the population and 13.10% of families are below the poverty line. 22.30% of these were under 18 years of age and 9.40% were 65 years of age or older.
