Wasow mechanical engineering factory
The Wasowsche Maschinenbau-Fabrik ( Bulgarian Вазовски машиностроителни заводи , BMS) is the largest armaments company in Bulgaria and is based in Sopot .
The company was founded in 1936 and opened in 1940. Today it is directed by Ivan Gezov.
Wasowsche Maschinenbau-Fabrik (named after Iwan Wasow ) produces artillery ammunition, charges for the RPG-7 V, ammunition for the SPG-9 and the gun of the BMP-1 ( 2A28 ), unguided air-to-surface missiles and anti-tank guided weapons .
According to Frank Stier, the company generates 40% of its revenue from US government contracts.
