The water sports association Göttingen from 1908 eV (Waspo 08) was the second largest sports association in Göttingen with around 1700 members. It was created in 1979 through the merger of the swimming club SV Göttingen 08 and the water sports association from 1924.

The 1908 Göttingen Water Sports Association ceased to exist on January 1, 2015. It merged with the Gymnastics and Sports Association of 1861 Göttingen (Tuspo 1861) and is now called the Gymnastics and Water Sports Association Göttingen from 1861 (TWG 1861)

  • 2011: German year-old champion in 1992 over 400 m, 800 m, 1500 m freestyle and 5 km freestyle Marcel Jerzyk
  • 2012: German year champion in 1992 gold over 800 m freestyle, silver over 1500 m and 400 m freestyle for Marcel Jerzyk
  • 2012: German short course championship, 3rd place over 800 m freestyle for Marcel Jerzyk

Canoe racing

  • since 2002 various national championship titles
  • 2006: 1st place in the DM for Margret Neher over 200 and 500 m in KI, as well as silver over 600 m in KII and bronze over 1000 m in KI
  • 2006: 2nd place in the DM for Lars Bode / Matthias Kopiske over 6000 m in the KII, as well as bronze in the KII and KIV over 1000 m
  • 2011: 1st place in the DM for Max Staats and Marvin Huth over 500 m in the KII.
  • 2011: 2nd place in the DM for Max Staats in the canoe competition, as well as 3rd place at 1000 m
  • 2011: 2nd place in the DM in the KIV for Staats, Huth, Lion Schettler and Christian Winnen on 2000 m, as well as bronze over 500 m
  • 2012: 3rd place in the DM for Marvin Huth over 200 m in the KI
