World Travel
By chance the cycling enthusiast Gustav Sztavjanik met the Indian cyclist Fram Jamsetjie Davar in Vienna and joined him on a world tour by bike. The journey took the two of them through four different continents from 1924 to 1931:
- Europe (including Czechoslovakia , Germany , Switzerland , France , Holland and Scandinavia ),
- Africa (first crossing of the Sahara by bike),
- South and North America (crossing the Andes twice )
- Asia
and back to Vienna, Austria.
On their trip, the two adventurers made the acquaintance of various prominent personalities who were interested in the company and left an entry in their autograph and memory book (including Charles Lindbergh , Sven Hedin , Felix Graf von Luckner , the boxer Jack Dempsey , Jawaharlal Nehru , Wilhelm II. ).
Thanks to an almost worldwide enthusiasm for cycling, the two world travelers repeatedly received support from the respective local cycling and sports clubs. Sztavjanik was repeatedly invited as a participant to cycling races during the trip. B. together with a Chilean racing partner set a South America record in the 24-hour race.
