Water and life
The water sculpture Water and Life is a fountain in Aachen-Burtscheid . It was made from 291 individual, stacked glass panes based on a design by the artist Heinz Tobolla . The fountain was erected on December 9, 1989 in front of the entrance to the Schwertbad in Benediktinerstraße and is considered a new monument for the bathing city of Aachen. Lindenplatz in Aachen was intended as the original location of the fountain. The erection of the fountain failed in 1986 due to the resistance of the residents who, instead of erecting this fountain sculpture, spoke out in favor of revealing the Johannisbach .
